As a human and individual in society, I regret the role that I have played in perpetuating systemic inequalities and injustices. I recognize the harm caused by discrimination based on race, ethnicity, gender, sexual orientation, religion, ability, and other differences. I am committed to acknowledging and addressing the impacts of past actions and to creating a more equitable and inclusive future. My Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion efforts are centered on listening, learning, and actively working to dismantle systemic barriers and biases. I am dedicated to promoting a culture of respect and inclusiveness for all and to continuously improving policies and practices to ensure everyone is valued and has equal opportunities for growth and success.
Traditional Custodians and Indigenous Peoples
I acknowledge the traditional custodians of the lands and waters on which I live and work, and pay my respects to Elders past, present and emerging, for they hold the wisdom, history and traditions therein. In Michigan, the Ojibwe, Odawa, and Bodewadmi nations. In Hawaii, the Kānaka Maoli. In South Carolina, the Kiawah and Ittiwan of the Cosabo People.
With a commitment to recognition and reconciliation, I acknowledge the ongoing impact of past policies and practices, and commit myself to creating justice and equality for all people.
